Each year, one of the most cherished traditions of Christmas in the Village is gathering as a community beneath the towering Village Tree as it lights up the Peoria Riverfront. Today, we’re excited to introduce the newest star of this season — a breathtaking Norway Spruce standing at roughly 70 feet tall, generously donated by Dan and Kathy Becker, a Peoria family whose gift will bring joy to thousands.
A Beautiful Tree With a New Purpose
For many years, this remarkable spruce grew tall and strong on the Becker family property. As the tree reached the point where it needed to come down, the family chose to give it a meaningful new life — becoming the centerpiece of Christmas in the Village.
Their gift is more than a tree; it’s a gesture of generosity and community spirit that will shine throughout the holiday season.

Before the tree is lit, guests can enjoy free warm drinks from CxT Roasting Company (while supplies last), a special holiday dance performance from Coach Bre Cottage Cheerleading & Dance Company, festive Christmas music, a visit from Santa as he helps light the tree, and a joyful, family-friendly atmosphere that reflects the heart of the season. Additional festive fun may be added as plans continue to finalize, so stay tuned for updates!
This free community event is a heartwarming way to kick off the season — filled with music, togetherness, and the glow of the Village Tree lighting up for the very first time.
